Each year for the last 49 years, BSF has assisted families with the cost of independent schooling. This support encourages families who believe that independent schooling is beyond their reach. This support eases financial responsibilities for families attending independent schools. This support is also a honor for students and families.
Support for BSF scholarship dollars is broad based with donations from institutions and individuals.
Two examples of the achievement of BSF Scholars are below:
Allante Keel is a 21st century renaissance man. Allante is scholar, leader, mentor and athlete. Allante was an A student in elementary school when his mother began the family relationship with BSF. ‘Allante was a smart boy with great potential and BSF helped me realize his potential. BSF helped me find the right schools, BSF helped me finance his middle and high school education and BSF supported Allante at every step,’ remarked Allante’s Mother. Allante completed his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Spring 2013 and matriculated to the University of Pennsylvania School of Law in the Fall of 2013. As an undergraduate Allante competed in track and football; and served as a mentor and member of the Mortar Board National Honor Society. He is a 2009 graduate of Episcopal High School and in the summer of 2013 worked for the global law firm, Jones Day.
Elisabeth Fisher is a member of the inaugural class of 2018 New York University Shanghia where she will earn an NYU degree in biology while perfecting her well-developed Chinese language and culture skills. Elizabeth will complete the majority of her undergraduate studies in China. Elisabeth, who began her study of Chinese in the seventh grade, is a member of the Class of 2013 at the Sidwell Friends School in Washington D.C. At Sidwell Friends School, Elisabeth worked as an editor for Quarterly Magazine, secretary of the Black Student Union, and tutor for KidPower Inc. She was recognized by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, and the Julia West Hamilton League. Elisabeth was an honor student in elementary school and joined BSF in 7th grade. Elisabeth recently completed her first semester of college in China.
