My name is Mariama Taifa-Seitu. This summer I was presented with the opportunity to join IFCO/Pastors for Peace for the 26th “Friendshipment Caravan.” My prior travels to Cuba in 2013 and 2014 were for self-education, but never for humanitarian purposes. I want to give back to a country that has taught me so much about revolutionary action.
From my prior experiences in Cuba, I have seen first-hand that the economic embargo is starving a whole nation, not promoting self-determination as the U.S. states. I stand in solidarity with the Cuban people, and I have actively challenged the travel ban and the U.S. economic embargo through civil disobedience. I would like to use the time and resources I have to continue the fight for self-determination against a reactionary policy. I am open to any support from the community! Thank you!
